Description
1906ء میکسم گورکی نے ناول ’’ماں‘‘ روسی زبان میں تحریر کیا۔ یہ تصنیف روس میں جاری انقلابی ہلچل کے پس منظر میں لکھی گئی، مگر اُس زمانے کی سخت سنسرشپ کے باعث ناول کو روس میں شائع کرنے کی اجازت نہ ملی۔
1907ء ناول کی پہلی مکمل اشاعت انگریزی ترجمے کی صورت میں امریکا میں ہوئی۔ یہ ابتدا میں نیویارک کے جریدے Appleton’s Magazine میں قسط وار شائع ہوا۔ بعد ازاں D. Appleton & Company نے اسے کتابی شکل میں شائع کیا۔ انگریزی ترجمہ Isabel F. Hapgood نے کیا اور پیش لفظ امریکی صحافی Charles Edward Russell نے تحریر کیا۔
1907ء ’’ماں‘‘ کا مکمل روسی متن پہلی بار برلن سے شائع ہوا۔ یہ ایڈیشن روسی مہاجر پبلشر J. Ladyschnikow Verlag نے شائع کیا۔ اُس وقت روس میں اس کی آزاد اشاعت ممکن نہ تھی، اور مکمل متن کی اشاعت بیرونِ ملک ہی ممکن ہوئی۔ روس میں اسے شائع کرنے کی اجازت 1917ء کے انقلاب کے بعد ملی۔
